What is a hydrogen gas valve?

A hydrogen valve is a type of valve that is used for hydrogen at very low temperatures or high pressures in hydrogen storage or for example hydrogen vehicles. They are a safety-critical component in hydrogen fuelling stations as they control the flow of gaseous hydrogen. In case of a potential source of hydrogen release or leakage, the valves are essential to shutting down systems in case of an emergency.

So why do you use Hydrogen?

Hydrogen gas has long been recognized as an alternative to fossil fuels and a potentially valuable tool for tackling climate change.

In the most optimistic outlooks, hydrogen could soon power trucks, planes and ships.

It could heat homes, balance electricity grids and help heavy industry to make everything from steel to cement.

Hydrogen is the lightest and most abundant element in the universe.

Harmful substances had caused air pollution and greenhouse gases when fossil fuels used for electricity generation. Hydrogen does not emit any carbon dioxide when it is burned, thereby making it a clean fuel. In fuel cell technology, electricity can be created when oxygen and hydrogen react. During this process, only water is emitted. This could aid climate goals and contribute to cleaner air for the environments.

Singapore has announced plans to trial the import of low-carbon or clean electricity from Malaysia, Indonesia and Laos. The Republic plans to import 30 per cent of its energy from low-carbon sources by 2035.
